Canton Bay, Sunway Pyramid

We were craving a little Hong Kong for dinner, and the best place I could think of (nearby, that is) was Canton Bay Restaurant in Sunway Pyramid. Not to be confused with Canton-I ya..

I love the food here because everytime I'm there, I never get disappointed. :D
Although a little bit pricey, they provide excellent service and very delicious Hong Kong style food!

I decided on the ChaSiu Rice Set, which comes with a little bowl of soup. (RM10.90)
This dish, although looking quite yummy, doesn't really make me salivate and go gaga over. One thing because it was a little bit dry and the sauce didn't really complement the meat. However, the rice was quite tasty, I think it was cooked with ginger oil.

5/10 munchies for this dish. I should have gone with my instinct and ordered the Roast Chicken and Duck with rice. :(

Peanut Boy ordered their famous La Mien with Roast Duck (RM10.80).
MmMmm..very very good...
I love the crispiness of the skin and the noodles were the right kind of springy.
Somemore, the meat was juicy and tender. SO good! I kept stealing little pieces of duck meat from his plate, and replacing them with my chasiu! >:P

We give this 9/10 munchies!

We also ordered the Suei Kau Dumplings in Soup (RM8.50)
The soup was a little bit bland, not much taste, but the dumplings had a good texture and was very filled with meat. Peanut Boy enjoyed this more than I did because dumplings aren't really my thing. So perhaps, I don't know how to properly appreciate them? :P

I give this 6/10 munchies whereas he gives this 8/10 peanut shells! :D

Now THIS!!!

My favourite dish of the night!!! SO SO SO GOOOODDDD!!!!!
I love fried mantau because they always give me the comfort food feeling, but never before have i eaten it with condensed milk. And oh gosh, are they amazing!! I couldn't stop eating them, never felt 'jelak' at all. And the mantaus they gave were very generous portions. Two giant pieces for only RM3.50!

I'm feeling all hot now, thinking about them. Two rolls of heaven!

10/10 munchies and I would give it an 11 if I could! :D

Don't they look deliciously sinful?
Oh, I think I've just tipped the scales. :O

You can find Canton Bay on the Lower Ground Floor, over-looking the ice skating rink and next to Tony Roma's! :D

Pappa Rich

Went for a late dinner on Saturday night with my mom and dad at Pappa Rich in Taipan USJ.

*
Grumpy Old Man ordered this Iced Longan Milk Honey (RM5.90).
He likes it very much and we can see that it's one of the popular drinks there.

Got lots of big longan pieces inside that you can scoop out and chomp on. :D

8/10 munchies!

I like the Ipoh Hor Fun with steamed chicken here! Though it's not THE best in Subang, but it's pretty tasteful and the soup has pow wow flavour, my mum says. :)
After eating the horrible chicken rice at Jaya Jusco's food court, Pyramid, this meal is well worth paying RM9.90 for.

They aren't stingy with the chicken also. You can request for a bigger piece of thigh and they will not charge you extra.

DON'T eat at Jaya Jusco' food court! It is HORRIBLE!!! Everything looks good and smells delicious, but when you actually order something, it's disgusting and cannot pass as a meal! I ordered the chicken rice, which was a tiny piece of chicken flattened out and chopped up. So stingy!!! And it was also priced at RM9.90. Yer!
And the drinks there either have no taste or is over-the-top sweet. I felt bad for asking Peanut Boy to eat there with me. :S

Also has lots of noodles inside. Very filling, so I shared this with Madam Cheong Hei since it was already late and we didn't want to go to bed with a full stomach.
7/10 munchies!
*

Service was slow though and G.O.M. almost wanted to cancel his order. Apparently, they forgot we ordered two sets of the Hor Fun and only brought one. The supervisor who took our order was also abit annoying. I was about to write down what we wanted on the piece of order paper, when he came up to us with his fancy palm pilot.

Supervisor : Oh, you don't need to write down anymore. I can order everything from here. *takes the paper out of my hands?!!? so rude.*
Me : Oh..really? Okay then! *gives him our orders*
Supervisor : Thank you.

Then he forgets our order! Must have keyed in wrongly because too busy being snobbish right!

And I don't like how crowded it is there. I can't move between tables without hitting someone with my elbow or my bag. So susah!

But I would definitely go back if only for the Chicken Rice or Hor Fun. :)

Coffee Ritual

This is my second time eating here and still it's one of my favourite places to hang out! :)
I don't really like coffee but dad does, so he really enjoys their lattes.
And the food is SO yummy!!! (three exclamation marks to prove my point)

Here's what we ate:
*
Grumpy Old Man ordered the Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken set for RM10.60
I curi-curi makan his chicken and it was very juicy. One big chicken drumstick somemore.
Definitely value for money.

I give this 8/10 munchies!

Ivy ordered the Fried Chicken Rice set (RM11.60)
(Don't know why my family so siao for fried chicken today..)
The chicken was a bit too crispy, I felt..and it was chopped up!
I like my drumsticks round and tender and dripping with oil! Haha!
Plus, there was no gravy, apart from the Thai chilli sauce so everything felt very dry.

Overall, I'll give it 4/10 munchies.

I ordered the Cajun Grilled Chicken set with butter rice (RM15.80)
Very very delicious! I usually tend not to order food with the word Cajun, Spiced or Sweet and Sour in it, but the Grumpy Old Man insisted that it's VERY good, so I decided to try it.

Besides, I was already taking too long to order and I felt bad for making the waitress wait. :P

Cajun Grilled Chicken with Rice
But I agree that it is a worthy recipe and the chicken was so tender!
Don't really know what Cajun actually tastes like, the sauce seemed similar to brown sauce, though I really liked the flavour.

Grumpy Old Man kept saying, "Nice hor! See I told you!"
Yes yes, it's very nice.
:)
9/10 munchies for this set.

So tender and juicy!

Madam Cheong Hei was planning to order dessert and eat off our main course. As usual. Lol!
She asked for the Affogato (RM7), which is ice cream with a shot of bitter espresso.
Her favourite ever since she tried it at Dome.
It's definitely one of my favourite desserts now, I so enjoy the bitter and the sweet combined.

And Coffee Ritual uses quality Haagen Daaz or Berkeley Farms ice cream.

You can choose. :)
This deserves 8/10 munchies.

Also, I decided to add-on a plain crepe with Berkeley's Ice Cream for RM7 because I was craving for a sweet crepe. This is the MOST SATISFYING DESSERT in the world!
Coffee Ritual serves it with whipped cream which goes really well with the cold ice cream and the warmness of the crepe. I love the crepes here because they are firm and thick.

I don't like crispy crepes because there is no point there, no point at all.

This deserves 10/10 munchies!

And G.O.M. upgraded his honey tea (which comes with all the sets, btw) to a Latte for RM2.

He said he really enjoyed the smooth-ness of the coffee, and that you can taste the quality of the coffee beans used. He gives this 8/10 grumpy points!
I give it 10/10 munchies for presentation because it looks so cute! :P

The bill came up to only RM60.05 plus 10% service charge for the four of us. This is very affordable, no? :)

I would definitely bring my peanut boy here next time! He's got a sweeter tooth than me.

And I will bring my yam cha gang as well! :D
